On March 27, 1948, the moon rose with an unusual brightness
and light, with the 'Svati' star twinkling faster in the northern
sky. A
quiet village called Mattatur, 36 miles north east of Kalady
the birth place of Adi Sankaracharya, on that evening, witnessed
a divine birth, the birth of the to be SWAMI BODHANANDA!
From
the early childhood He showed great interest in discussing about
spiritual themes and spending His time in solitude. A brilliant
student, who pursued His study with government scholarship at
Christ college, Kerala, later chose economics for post graduation.
Having lived in the home-land of Adi Sankaracharya, enjoying
the company of learned spiritual savants of different sects
and beliefs it was only a matter of time before the young brilliant
student designed His own course to shape and reach his destination.
Off and on He would accompany religious groups in and around
His home-town. During one such sojourns into luscious forests
He happened to serve a Mahatma for forty days. Mahatma's austerity
sprouted the spiritual seed lying deep in the mind of Swamiji.
Leaving
His post-graduation studies He set His own syllabus and thus
started His enquiry into Self, studying various systems of philosophy
and religion, both western and oriental. Travelling from place
to place in serach of the goal of His life He naturally reached
the Himalaya, the eternal abode and inspiration of many a spiritual
master. The greatness, yet the silence, of the mighty Himalayas
left a profound imprint on His psyche. It brought in Him the
transformation that He was longing for but was yet to experience.
He realised that ultimately it was our own ancient texts and
scriptures, sans any rituals, that alone contained the ultimate
reality.
Swamiji is the spiritual inspiration behind Sambodh and its
sister institutions in India, North America and Europe. The
various programs and projects for the study and propagation
of Vedantic Scriptures, research on management ideas embedded
in our ancient scriptures, in the contemporary context, ashrams
to set our minds high and meditate in unison with the harmony
of mother nature, social service activities for the minorities
and underprivileged: all these are blooms of His divine vision
flowing through His devotees in different parts of the world.
Swamiji has devised various meditation techniques blending Kundalini
Yoga and understanding of human psyche in the background of
Vedantic insights. He has great insights into the cause of human
maladies. His contribution in the field of human potential development
and leadership studies is widely appreciated. Swamiji propogates
His vision of integral oneness through lectures, seminars, discourses,
retreats and personal counselling. The divine and spiritual
presence of Swamiji, and counselling is a compelling motivation
for us to come out of ruts and stereotypes, conflicts and neuroses,
and to experience the full flowering of the spirit.
